Whether you're a teenager getting ready for prom or an adult getting ready for a high school reunion, a pimple can really ruin your day. There are any number of remedies for acne out there, but most of them take time to work. What do you do when you need to get rid of an annoying pimple fast? Take a look at some natural remedies that can help.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has astringent properties that help to dry pimples out quickly. Lemon also has natural antibacterial properties that can help keep zits from coming back, and it's high in Vitamin C, which is good for your skin as well. When using lemon juice to clear up acne, it's important to use the juice from a fresh lemon, not bottled lemon juice that may contain preservatives that aren't so good for your skin.

It's easy to use lemon juice to help clear up a zit. Just soak a cotton ball with the juice and apply it to your skin. Give it time to dry, and repeat if necessary.

Steam

The steam from hot water opens up all your pores, which allows your skin to get rid of the dirt, oils, and bacteria trapped in your pores that contribute to pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It also allows your skin to breathe.

Just fill up a basin or the bathroom sink with water that's hot enough to produce steam, and allow the steam to come in contact with your face. Draping a towel over your head and letting the sides of the towel fall on either side of the basin or sink can trap the steam, giving your face the maximum amount of exposure to the steam. When you're done letting your face absorb the steam, wash your face with lukewarm water and apply an oil-free moisturizer after drying.

Honey and Cinnamon

Using sweet items like honey and cinnamon to get rid of pimples probably sounds counterintuitive, since sweet foods are often blamed for causing pimples. But honey is a natural antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant agent, and cinnamon can reduce swelling and inflammation and provide an exfoliating effect.

For spot treating stubborn pimples, make a paste of cinnamon and raw honey and apply a dab of it to the affected area. Leave it in place while it dries, then wash your face in lukewarm water to remove. You can also use this mixture as a full facial mask.

There's no reason to let pimples ruin your plans. One or more of these home remedies can help you ensure that you have clear skin when you need it the most.

About Me
Back Pain: Easing the Symptoms

Only people who live with constant back pain will understand how my days tend to go. On days when the pain is slight, I can manage pretty well. When it flares up, there is no such thing as a comfortable position. Fortunately, I have found ways to help ease the pain and keep going. A friend recommended that I see a chiropractor. While skeptical, I did find that having an adjustment twice a week does help. I tend to rely less on pain medication than I did before, and there are days when I feel almost normal. If you have not considered a visit to a chiropractor, I suggest that you make an appointment. Let me tell you a little about how to prepare for the visit, and what to expect. You may find that those visits end up making your days much more pleasant.
