If you are like most new mothers with an infant at home, you probably have a little extra baby weight you'd like to lose, but you don't have the time, energy, or inclination to do anything that would increase your stress levels or intrude on your spare time too much. Here are three easy-to-implement tips that you can use to help get rid of the unwanted baby weight without any serious commitments:

Drink Lots of Water

It's important to make sure that you stay well hydrated throughout each day, as it will optimize your energy levels and help you burn more calories by the time you lay your head down on the pillow at night. Drinking plenty of water is also a great way to reduce your appetite before meal times so you don't overeat. Make it a habit to drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and before each meal throughout the day.

Replace your juice and soda intake with water when possible, and cut down on your coffee intake as it can dehydrate you and reverse the benefits you're getting from drinking lots of fresh water. You can add a little flavor to your water by pouring fresh lemon or orange juice into it or by mixing a couple frozen berries with it.

Get to Walking Daily

If you don't have much time for exercise due to parental, work, or other commitments, it's important to squeeze in as much walking as you can at least five days a week. Walking is convenient, easily accessible, and won't take up much of your time when implemented into your daily activities. Taking the time to walk with purpose during your day will help relieve stress levels and boost your calorie burn rate.

There isn't a need to go to a track to get the walking exercise you need for weight loss and improved overall health. Just park at the far end of the parking lot when visiting stores, use the stairs instead of elevators whenever possible, and spend some quality time with your family strolling around the block after dinner each evening. Every purposeful attempt you make at walking for health throughout your day is sure to add up and provide you with some impressive results.

Take Time to Meditate

If you find that the stress of being a new mother or of handling all your commitments in general is leading you to overeat or emotionally eat, meditation might be an excellent solution for you. Meditating on a daily basis, even for just five or ten minutes, is an effective way to reduce your stress levels and help you learn to become aware of the specific actions and thoughts that are leading to your tendency to eat too much or for the wrong reasons.

You can meditate in the privacy of your own home with the help of DVDs and books for some inspiration and guidance. All you'll need for success is an open mind and attitude and the willingness to focus your attention for a few quiet minutes at a time.

About Me
Back Pain: Easing the Symptoms

Only people who live with constant back pain will understand how my days tend to go. On days when the pain is slight, I can manage pretty well. When it flares up, there is no such thing as a comfortable position. Fortunately, I have found ways to help ease the pain and keep going. A friend recommended that I see a chiropractor. While skeptical, I did find that having an adjustment twice a week does help. I tend to rely less on pain medication than I did before, and there are days when I feel almost normal. If you have not considered a visit to a chiropractor, I suggest that you make an appointment. Let me tell you a little about how to prepare for the visit, and what to expect. You may find that those visits end up making your days much more pleasant.
